The Greeley Chamber Orchestra was founded in 1981 by Dan Frantz, the orchestra's first and only conductor. The music the orchestra performs during its five-concert season is exciting and unique. The orchestra has performed all of the Brandenburg Concertos and Orchestral Suites of J.S. Bach as well as Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, and Schubert symphonies.

Not limiting the repertoire to the Baroque and Classical periods, the music of various late 19th century as well as 20th century composers has been highlighted. Soloists featured with the GCO are not only excellent musicians, but are also active in the Greeley community. Audiences have been thrilled in the past by performances of well-known local artists including Vergie Amendola, Buddy Baker, Gray Barrier, Todd Ehle, Jim Fittz, Richard Fuchs, Carl Gerbrandt, Roger Greenberg, Sylvia Greenfield, Jack Herrick, Bill Pfund, Walter Schenckman, and the internationally known conductor Antonia Brico.

The Greeley Chamber Choir joins the orchestra twice a year.  The combined forces of these two groups have presented Cantatas by Bach, Oratorios by Handel, and sacred and secular works by Beethoven, Schubert, and Faure. The GCO and Choir are comprised of talented musicians from the northern Colorado area who take time from their busy schedules to collectively perform great music. The musicians include teachers, nurses, dentists, physicians, homemakers, salespersons, managers, and students.

The orchestra is especially interested in developing an appreciation of music in our young people and offers free concert admission to every young person under the age of 18. The Greeley Chamber Orchestra and its Board of Directors invite you to attend the Greeley Chamber Orchestra's concerts and enjoy one of Greeley's premium and most reasonably priced entertainment offerings.
